Jan leads SABRE Civil and Earthworks. He’s passionate about project quality and reliability and firmly believes his people are the source of SABRE’S strength. Fostering a team orientated approach, he leads an enthusiastic crew. Jan’s career started in rural contracting and horticultural developments before he moved to Australia to work in the mining sector in Western Australia and Queensland.
SABRE’s clients now directly benefit from his experience in large construction projects offshore. His wide range of skills and expertise are an asset when translated to New Zealand’s evolving landscape.
Tangata has a vast array of experience in the earthworks and civil engineering industry.
He started working on-site from a very young age and thus gained invaluable knowledge and experience. With this base of practical hands on experience he then progressed into a career in quantity surveying.
Tangata is very punctual and systematic in his work which is reflected in his care to detail across all projects. He has a keen interest in Health and Safety compliance which is of huge benefit to the teams on site
Previously a business owner with a background in management, Mark is also a certified drainlayer with a wealth of experience on the tools. His sales and people management skills along with his practical know-how ensure that he is an efficient and enthusiastic project manager.
Mark specialises in running slick internal systems on each of his projects and also relishes the chance to jump back on the tools when needed.
Todd is a focused civil construction manager with over ten years of experience and a proven knowledge of equipment operation.
He specialises in civil construction and bulk earthworks and has the ability to work in challenging conditions with ease. Todd also specialises in workplace health and safety and as such is an asset on site always installing best practice and a positive safety culture.
Dean brings a wealth of knowledge to the civil team with over twenty years experience in construction, earthworks, drainage and roading.
Dean is a Health and Safety ambassador on site and well respected amongst all he works with. Specialising in motivating co-workers to achieve optimal productivity whilst retaining the highest of safety standards Dean is an asset to the SABRE team.
Piet is a licensed building Practitioner and has built everything from architecturally designed homes to concrete bridges being involved in large scale residential and commercial projects nationwide.
Because of his time on the tools, Piet has the ability to evaluate and value engineer plans from a very practical viewpoint. His attention to detail enables him to intercept any possible issues before they arise.
With a passion for innovative design in medium to high density housing interest in using modular materials to create modern living spaces. Piets’ easy-going and open communication style of business ensure happy clients and repeat business.
Lance began his construction career in the Waikato where he helped build architecturally-designed homes, the Waikato Hospital and Gallagher Group’s impressive headquarters.
After leaving New Zealand to travel he worked in various locations around the world with highlights being alterations to a 300 year-old heritage listing home in London and building a hospital and school in the tiny pacific island of Nauru. Lance particularly enjoys taking a bare piece of land and building a dream home or turning a run-down building into something very special. He is also interested in sustainability in building and environmental awareness.
Cole worked in the steel construction industry in Australia for ten years before joining the SABRE team.
With specialist knowledge in estimating multi story steel buildings he is a valuable asset to the commercial team. Currently completing Level six of his Construction Management and Quantity Surveying qualifications Cole is passionate about managing his projects from start to finish with a meticulous attention to detail.
Sam is an enthusiastic project manager and prides himself on being able to build just about anything.
After finishing his apprenticeship he was on the tools for about seven years before progressing into commercial site management and project management. Prior to his construction career he travelled extensively and was also a soldier in the New Zealand army. His finely tuned people skills and attention to detail along with his outgoing personality on site make him an asset to the SABRE team.
Shannon is a licensed building practitioner with a strong career history in light commercial and industrial construction. Shannon enjoys nothing more than working in a fast paced environment whilst maintaining quality standards.
With a real passion is in people management and communication he is a valuable asset to the SABRE commercial team adding value through his relationships with all subcontractors suppliers and clients.
John has successfully developed a variety of businesses in the agricultural and horticultural sector over the past 40 plus years ranging from dairy farming to export marketing, manufacturing, kiwifruit and construction.
John oversees the agriculture and horticulture side of SABRE offering clients invaluable advice and ensuring their exact needs are met. As he’s always had his hands in the soil, John sees projects from our clients’ point of view. He is a lateral thinker with an exceptional work ethic and loves to use his knowledge of both construction and the land to add value to each and every project.
With a vast career of over 30 years managing construction projects in the United Kingdom and here in New Zealand Warren is an asset to the SABRE horticulture team.
A high energy senior manager he has the ability to run large teams of people and their respective responsibilities with ease. Warren specialises in cost control and efficiency for clients whilst mitigating risk on-site and encouraging his team to maintain the highest of safety standards.
Adam has a passion for orchard construction and loves nothing more than seeing the difference a good shelter or canopy can make to a crop’s success. Prior to joining the SABRE horticulture team he was a dairy farmer so his knowledge is invaluable when it comes to any agricultural requirements a client may have.
Adam oversees his staff as if they were his family and tackles any problems head on. He is always on hand for advice on best design, material and approach to any project.
With a passion for the environment Hemi is a valuable resource to the Horticulture team. He has building experience and is also a qualified arborist, with a knowledge of the Infrastructure Development Code, city planning and the RMA. He is astute in council requirements, policies and codes and passionate about native flora and fauna.
Hemi’s experience in both the public and private sectors includes negotiating contracts and tenders, dispute resolution and customer service.
